CAARE Mission statement
CAARE promotes participation for all grassroots arts, sports and physical exercise to improve the quality of life.
CAARE believes that the human legacy of the London 2012 Olympic Games (not property development) should start immediately and the best lasting legacy is a national programme dedicated to supporting physical activity, sports and arts clubs, the voluntary sector and their use of educational facilities. Sports, physical activity and arts daily participation are excellent tools to tackle social deprivation and exclusion and health related illness.
To achieve this CAARE campaigns vigorously for:
- Physical Education to be a mandatory part of Initial Teacher Training for prospective Primary teachers
- A specialist Physical Education teacher in every primary school.
- Opportunities for all in the 'extended day' after school hours, for participation in physical activity and art activities.
- Maximise usage and development of current facilities.
- Multi sports, physical activity and arts facilities available to all within 20 minutes travelling time from their homes.
- A range of programmes aimed at all ages.
- Experts from the arts, sports and physical activity sectors, working permanently close to the chancellor, improving Treasury’s priorities and with responsibility for the outcome.
- A restructure of lottery distribution procedures to prioritise its original intended causes of arts and sports participation for all at grassroots level.
